Jordan Miedema is one of our live auctioneers here at Miedema Auctioneering. Jordan has been around the auction world for many years now, and recently we have sat down with him to talk about being an auctioneer.

How long have you been an auctioneer for Miedema Auctioneering?

  • I started auctioneering in 2011.

What made you want to become an auctioneer?

  • Growing up in the family business watching my Dad and uncle auctioneer and always working the live auctions since I was a kid.

Where did you go to Auctioneer School at?

  • Reppert Auction School in Indianapolis Indiana.

What is your favorite aspect of being an auctioneer?

  • Interacting with customers and helping families and clients out of tough situations. I like the excitement the auction brings and enjoy working as the auctioneer and in the ring.

What is the craziest item you have ever sold

  • I get asked this question a lot, and I always have a tough time answering it. I think some of the expensive tractors are unique and I always find the old farm tools interesting as well.

Outside of being an auctioneer, what are your hobbies?

  • I like to play basketball and softball in the summer and with hockey in the winter. I also enjoy hunting and boating with friends and family.

Customer Testimonials

This past February we had the opportunity to sell the estate of Donald W. Theis. Donald had passed away and his family hired Miedema Auctioneering to sell his 200 acres, home and outbuildings through a live auction. This property was being offered in parcels from 5 acres to 80 acres or in its entirety.

A pre-auction appraisal for this property was $1.3 million, and through the help of our marketing & auction team this property was able to bring $1.605 million +3% buyers premium which brings the acreage price of $7,967 per acre!

After the auction, the Theis family was overwhelmed with the results in the auction and graciously sent Miedema Auctioneering a testimonial of their experience with Miedema. Below you can read the testimonial from the Theis Family.

Sid and the Entire Miedema Family,

There are no word to express how my siblings and I feel.  You took on a monumental task to guide me through an extremely rough time that was dropped on me due to poor judgement on the part of one individual that turned my family’s life upside down.

Not knowing where to start, and the volume of work that had to be done to close out a man’s life, a business that he ran, a farm that he loves and a home that I and my siblings grew up in was extremely overwhelming. You brought calm, patience and understanding and above all, respect.

For all of the above, I am eternally grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Auction Results: Kehoe Estate

On April 18, Miedema Auctioneering successfully conducted the real estate auction for the estate of Gerald and Donna Kehoe in Ada, Michigan. This desirable rural property featured a well-maintained ranch-style home with a two-stall garage, an outbuilding, a scenic pond, and approximately 35 acres of land. Its combination of residential comfort, functional acreage, and prime location generated strong interest from buyers throughout the region.

The property was offered in four individual parcels, as well as a single combined tract, allowing bidders flexibility based on their goals and budgets. Through a strategic marketing campaign and the expertise of Miedema Auctioneering’s professional auctioneers, competitive bidding was encouraged across all options. As a result, the property was sold to three different high bidders for a total of $500,000, demonstrating the effectiveness of the auction method in maximizing value for estate properties.

One week before the real estate auction, Miedema Auctioneering also managed the personal property auction for the Kehoe Estate. This auction featured a wide and diverse selection of assets, including a loader backhoe, tractors, farm implements, tools, a riding lawn mower, and various pieces of shop equipment. In addition, household items such as furniture, dishes, antiques, bedroom sets, and other personal effects were offered. The breadth and quality of the items attracted a strong pool of bidders and resulted in an efficient and successful sale.

The Kehoe family expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes of both auctions, appreciating the smooth process and strong results achieved. Miedema Auctioneering was honored to assist the family during this transition and is grateful for the opportunity to serve them. Successfully managing both the real estate and personal property auctions allowed for a comprehensive solution that met the family’s needs while delivering excellent results.
